The Racketeer, John Grisham, book reviewThe Racketeer is the latest brilliant legal thriller from John Grisham. It is an absorbing tale from start to finish and has some fiendishly unexpected twists and turns that I absolutely loved.

Malcolm Bannister used to be a fairly typical reasonably successful small town lawyer. That was until he was accused and sentenced for ten years after being innocently caught up in a massive money laundering operation. He is also the only black man imprisoned for a white collar crime in the prison. At the start of The Racketeer, he is halfway through his sentence, keeping his head down and getting on with his work in the prison library and advising fellow inmates on various legal matters.

The Litigators , John Grisham, book reviewA few years ago I was an avid reader of John Grisham books but recently seemed to lose interest in them. However, when I saw his latest book, The Litigators, it caught my interest and I decided to give him another go. In this case the little men are the ’boutique’ firm of Finley and Figg and the big guns are a pharmaceutical company called Arrick which has a drug on the market called Krayoxx that is designed to reduce cholesterol levels in overweight people.

The Associate By John Grisham, book reviewI used to be an avid reader of John Grisham novels but for some reason they started to lose their attraction. I think they started to get a bit samey which is why I didn’t read any for a couple of years. However, I was recently reminded me that this book was still in my ‘to read’ pile so I thought that I would give it a go. I did enjoy reading ‘The Associate’ although I don’t think that it really has the same edge and suspense as some of Grisham’s earlier books.
