A difficult one to answer as I have enjoyed a lot of Victorian fiction – of the ones I am certain are set in London, the favourites would probably be – Fingersmith and The Crimson Petal and the White.

It would have to be Fingersmith.
I was looking at The Somnambulist in Waterstones yesterday. I just love that pink cover

Does The Railway Children count? It was published after Victoria's death but has a distinctly Victorian setting, but only a very small part of it is in London.
If not, I'd go for The Crimson Petal and the White.

'The Somnambulist' is unquestionable my favourite novel set in Victorian London. One of the best debuts I have ever read.

For me, it has to be Dicken's Oliver Twist. So many memories from my childhood with this book.

Not sure how much truth there was to this book but I really enjoyed reading Portrait of a Killer – Jack the Ripper Case Closed by Patricia Cornwell. Oliver Twist is another unforgettable classic which I still love to this day
