As you can guess from the title of Simon’s Cat in Kitten Chaos, in the latest addition to the wonderful world of Simon’s Cat, a kitten has joined the household. Kittens are wonderful things, so playful and inquisitive, and always hilarious with their antics. But of course Simon’s Cat is not too impressed with this cute new housemate...From www.curiousbookfans.co.uk

Simon’s Cat is one of the biggest internet phenomena of recent years. For the unitiated, it was created by Simon Tofield, and is a cartoon of simple line drawings about a cat and his owner, Simon. We never learn the cats name, but we see his antics as he demands food, wants let in and out of the house, steals chairs, and gets up to all sorts with his hedgehog pal in the garden.

In 2009 Simon’s Cat had his very own book. In 2010, he has his second book - Beyond the Fence. There is an ongoing story through the book, as Simon’s Cat leaves home in a sulk (Simon stupidly tries to give him a bath) and heads off into the big world beyond the garden fence.

364 Days of Tedium: Or What Santa Gets Up To On His Days Off by Dave Cornmell is a cartoon book covering what it says in the title – what does Santa do for those 364 days when he’s not busy delivering presents to good girls and boys around the world?

I wasn’t exactly expecting a cutesy book, I expected it would be an adult cartoon book, but having not really paid attention to the fact that the cover picture was of Santa passed out and covered in vomit with an empty bottle beside him, I was slightly taken aback by the first few pages of cartoons. Cornmell’s Santa is a fat, drunk, lazy arsehole. Really, he’s not a pleasant or jolly chap. He seems to vomit an awful lot – but then he does drink a lot.

From Hell is a graphic novel by Alan Moore and artist Eddie Campbell and was first published over a number of dates stretching back to 1989. This collected edition is 572 pages long and although Moore has been responsible for the likes of Watchmen, V For Vendetta and The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, this is probably his masterpiece. From Hell is Moore's own speculation on the case of Jack the Ripper, a blending of fiction, fact and fantasy that begins with a Royal Conspiracy and weaves a complex and gripping story that involves Freemasons, time travel, prostitution, the history of London, detective work, a psychic, corruption, poverty, mystical visions, famous figures of the era and the birth of the 20th century.

It's always strangely comforting and a real pleasure to slip between the pages of a Tintin adventure with characters you've come to know so well and the crisp, colourful art of Hergé. Tintin in Tibet is a particularly strong entry in the series because of the attempt to do something slightly new. Tintin books, which Steven Spielberg once said were an influence on the globetrotting Indiana Jones films, are often exotic with far flung locales but Tintin in Tibet takes us deep into the spectacular mountains of Nepal and throws a great deal of mysticism into the mix with Tintin's strange dream, remote monasteries and monks who share spiritual visions.
