Newsletter No 13 (Dec 4th, 2010)

Hi,

Curious Book Fans have arranged a charitable book giveaway/auction to raise money for our chosen charity Room to Read. We have selected Room to Read because we share their philosophy that world change starts with educated children. Room to Read works with primary school children in less developed countries to help build literacy skills and instill a love of reading among children.

We have asked publishers to donate books and the response has been magnificent. We are happy to report that we have 52 copies of 22 fabulous books available and want to offer our sincere thanks to Canongate Books, DK Publishing, Hachette, HarperCollins, Headline and Profile Books for supporting our charitable auction. We ask you to use red ‘Bid here’ links in the list below to bid for books that may interest you. The starting prices are below the third the current Amazon UK price. Read more about rules here…

The idea is that you can get a great book at a good price and thanks to the support of our publisher sponsors, every penny raised will go to the charitable cause. Please tell your friends and family and any other curious book fans who might be interested.

Yours, Curious Book Fans

Freedom by Jonathan Franzen
HarperCollins

Freedom comically and tragically captures the temptations and burdens of too much liberty: the thrills of teenage lust, the shaken compromises of middle age, the wages of suburban sprawl, the heavy weight of empire. In charting the mistakes and joys of Freedom’s intensely realized characters, as they struggle to learn how to live in an ever more confusing world, Franzen has produced an indelible and deeply moving portrait of our time.
